Lord Wolseley Hotel is in a fantastic location, tucked away in a charming spot near Darling Harbour. The hosts are exceptionally welcoming and run a great bar downstairs in the afternoon and evening, the drinks are a must-try! However, a few practical tips for travelers: this is a historic building with no elevator, so it might be a challenge if you have heavy luggage. Also, if you’re arriving by light rail, be prepared for some steep ramps on the way to the hotel. It’s a bit of a workout! That said, if you’re an outgoing person who enjoys a lively, authentic pub atmosphere, you’ll absolutely love it here.

Pros: close to tram (light rail), restaurants, harbors, shopping, situated in a quiet neighborhood Cons: no central air or heat Some rooms have ensuites, others access to a shared bathroom. There is a small shared kitchenette area (no fridge). We were visiting at the end of summer/beginning of fall, so the fans & open window in our room were enough to keep us comfortable. If room climate control is a must, summer or winter may not be as pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even scrounged up a hair dryer for me last minute. Loved the area - we mostly walked everywhere. Hubby did startle a cockroach one night in the bathroom, but it's an old building in a warm, humid enviroment. It was not a big deal for us as we're from a similar climate. Overall, the room was clean, serviceable and had a comfortable bed. Definitely recommend if you like to walk and have no problems with stairs.

I had a disappointing stay at Lord Wolseley Hotel. The biggest issue was that it was not clearly mentioned at the time of booking that the bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared. For the price charged, this is simply not acceptable and should be clearly disclosed upfront. Additionally, during hot weather, no extra fan was provided. The ceiling fan in the room was very weak and barely circulated any air, making the stay quite uncomfortable. While the staff (especially the girls downstairs) were polite and friendly, the overall service and facilities did not meet expectations. I would not recommend staying here unless you are fully aware of and comfortable with shared amenities

Stayed for 6 nights. Cute, charming little pub with clean rooms and friendly staff. Easy walk to city, Haymarket, Pyrmont, fish markets, Tambalong etc. Excellent cafes close by. 3-4 minute walk to light rail. Great value. If you're ok with simple rooms and shared bathrooms, then thoroughly recommend.

Staff are so helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean and neat. Fantastic area. Close to everything. No lifts so have to carry luggage upstairs. Great little kitchenette. Food is great. Definitely recommend this place 👌
