This time I arrived properly, without pressure, and finally got to experience what this vegan chef restaurant in Bologna, Italy is actually about and it completely changed the picture. The dishes I tried today were much more balanced, creative, and well thought out. You can really feel the concept behind the food modern vegan cuisine with attention to detail, presentation, and flavor combinations. It’s definitely not just a standard vegan restaurant, but something more refined and chef driven. Service was smoother, the pace felt right, and overall the experience was much more aligned with what I initially expected when I saw the place. So yes first impression was off, but coming back made a big difference. This place deserves to be experienced properly, not in a rush. If you’re into vegan food, chef restaurants, and exploring the plant based scene in Bologna, Italy it’s worth giving it the right setting and time….
Very cool to see a fully vegan restaurant in Bologna! I ordered the tasting menu for 38€ with four courses and a dessert. They have a very interesting selection of courses that taste delicious and offer an extraordinary tasting experience. The course with artichokes was the only course I didn‘t enjoy because I didn‘t like the bitter taste.
My only regret is waiting so long into my trip to try Botanica. Everything on the menu was absolutely exceptional. It was creative, beautifully balanced, and prepared with real artistry. Do not skip the cannoli; it had some of the most unique and memorable flavors of our entire visit. The steak was perfection, served over a delicate layer of thinly sliced potatoes with incredible sauces that tied everything together. For dessert, we shared the strudel, which was crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside, and filled with the most delicious fruit. It was truly the best strudel I’ve ever had, hands down. The atmosphere was gorgeous, warm, and welcoming. We felt completely taken care of from start to finish. A must-visit.
This location is truly beautiful and the inside was so chic and lovely. It made for a perfect pairing with the most delicious summer menu. The corn spread was delectable, the pesto was so creamy and each dish had such a unique flavor from the other. So thrilled that Bologna has such a fantastic place that is vegan - yay. Hope to return one day!
Delicious meal - excellent range of all-vegan options, fresh ingredients and good quality. Nice restaurant setting and good vibe. We had the broccoli pasta and artichoke tortellini, vegan steak and Caesar salad - all were excellent. Beat meal we’ve had in the past week around Italy.
